This Black Friday we processed 30.67 million transactions with a total value of R6.91 billion. We reached a peak transaction speed of 225 transactions per second, and our average transaction processing time was 1 300 milliseconds.
Black November 2022 saw a significant increase in transaction value, with a moderate increase in transaction volume compared to the previous year. With an average transaction processing speed of 575 milliseconds, we processed 184.34 million transactions (transaction volume), only a 4.18% increase from the 176.95 million transactions in Black November 2021. On the other hand, our Black November transaction value was R35.86 billion, a 102.6% increase from the R17.7 billion in 2021 – South Africans certainly opened their wallets this year!
Suitably, 1/7th of our transaction value processed during Black November 2022 was done in 4 days (Black Friday through to cyber Monday); which tells us that people waited for Black Friday and participated.
